HUMAN INSIGHTS

CONFERENCE

2024

29-30 August 2024  •  The Hilton, Sydney

An Evening at the MCA

An Evening at the MCA offers an exclusive networking opportunity for this year's conference at one of Sydney’s most iconic venues.

Starting with a private gallery viewing of Hiroshi Sugimoto: Time Machine, the largest exhibition to date of the internationally renowned artist’s work, we then invite you for drinks, food and live music alongside Circular Quay.

The Light Rail offers an easy route from The Hilton, with an easy to follow guide available in the app that day.

We can’t wait for an ‘artful’ evening with plenty of opportunity to make new connections, see you there!

GETTING THERE

Sydney’s Light Rail offers an easy, almost door-to-door route from The Hilton to the MCA. Whilst google maps will have you covered, here’s some simple directions to help get you to the evening event easily;

  • Exit the Hilton onto George Street and cross over to the QVB light rail stop directly opposite.
  • To pay, tap on with either an Opal card or your bank card/ wallet on your phone.
  • After a short 5-7 min ride, disembark at the Circular Quay stop (final stop before it returns).
  • From here, walk towards The Rocks (west of Circular Quay) and turn right to take the path through First Fleet Park, that runs along the east side of the MCA (facing Circular Quay).
  • In approx. 200m you will arrive at the entrance to the MCA. Noting that this is before the main entrance, in the original section of the building rather than the tower that is open for usual public entry.

If you would prefer to travel with others, The Young Researchers Group and a few of The Research Society team will be meeting in the foyer of The Hilton to leave promptly at 6:15 pm and will travel down together on the Light Rail.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • If you are joining from the Conference, please remember to bring your pass with you for entry. For those registered for the evening event only, you will be able to collect your pass upon arrival.
  • Our event will be held in the Foundation Hall to the left as you enter. However, the evening begins with a private gallery viewing of Hiroshi Sugimoto: Time Machine in the main museum. Please register with us to the right after you enter and then head to the cloakroom before proceeding to the exhibit. Staff will be able to guide you to lifts up to Level 3 where the exhibit awaits you.
  • The exhibit is open 18.30-19.30 and exclusively for our registered attendees. We then invite you to join for drinks, food and live music in the Foundation Hall.
  • Please note, no drinks can be taken into the exhibit, nor can bags, We ask that you use the fully staffed secure coat check, located at the entrance when you first arrive. This is next to where the main event will be so you can collect your belongings either when you return from the exhibit or at the end of the night. We encourage those who are staying at The Hilton to leave their bags in their hotel rooms
  • When in the exhibit, you can take photos for personal use. However, this is a private exhibit so no photos posted on social media should tag a business or the event name. Photos once in the Foundation Hall reception are welcome!
  • Dress to impress! There is no formal dress code but as the event will be held in a stunning art deco space, feel free to glam up a little for the evening should you wish!
  • The evening will wrap up at 22.30. With The Rocks area and north of the city right on your doorstep, there will be plenty of options for those who wish to continue the evening, as well as Circular Quay station and the light rail, plus taxi ranks, as transport options to get you home safely.
